What is Reiki?
Reiki (“ray-key”) is a gentle yet effective energy healing technique that can be used alone or in combination with massage. Rei means “spiritual wisdom” and Ki means “life energy”. It originated in Japan in the 1800s by Dr. Mikao Usui (Usui Sensei). Reiki helps to bring a deep sense of calm to the entire body and mind, which allows the nervous and endocrine systems to function optimally to maintain homeostasis in the body allowing the body to heal itself.
Reiki can be used for reducing stress, easing aches and pains or recovering from injury, relaxing muscle tension, increasing energy and relieving fatigue, promoting restful sleep, emotional well-being, soothing emotional distress, promoting peaceful and positive mindset, and much more.
Reiki can be used in conjunction with any other medical treatment and should not replace any current therapy you’re receiving from your doctor. In fact, Reiki works well in conjunction with other healing modalities and is even offered as a part of regular patient care in many hospitals and medical centers across the U.S. and has shown very positive benefits to patients.
There are no contraindications to Reiki, it cannot cause harm. Reiki is not associated with any religious affiliation and is welcomed as a gentle healing modality by all faith and non-faith backgrounds.
